3/5th’s of S.N.A.K. at Smiling Buddha Bar

July 13th, 2007 by lilfunky1

So only 3/5th’s of S.N.A.K. were able to make it to Smiling Buddha Bar on this fateful night. We had Dave!, Cousin Alex & Wee Alex. Dave! mainly was playing bass, except for maybe about two songs that he kicked into drums. Cousin Alex from what I remember stayed on guitar the whole time, but at some point he may have picked up a bass. And Wee Alex drummed his heart out until Dave! kicked him off, to which he either picked up a guitar, or a bass. I can’t remember anymore.

It was fun & exciting, I remember that much!

And someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I do believe this incarnation of the band is for some ungodly reason called “SeaBass”

S.N.A.K. Performs at Smiling Buddha Bar

December 29th, 2006 by lilfunky1

S.N.A.K. Performs at Smiling Buddha Bar on December 29, 2006

This was one entertaining show. You have to expect that equipment will fail at some point… but no one ever thinks it will happen to them! S.N.A.K. ended up playing something like an 8 minute rendition of (if I recall correctly…) Magnificent Twist because at some point the power took out everything but Wee Alex’s guitar and the drumkit. As they continued to play on, Wayne, the bar owner, and the rest of the band tried various configurations of plugs to get the rest of the equipment working. When that failed, Tynur began to lead a sing-along just to keep things moving.

In the end the monitors were turned the other way around so the audience would be able to hear what was being performed, while the performers were now flying blind… or deaf? as the case may be, since they could no longer hear their own voices.

But screw technical difficulties. I have pictures!

S.N.A.K. Performs at Smiling Buddha Bar

October 19th, 2006 by lilfunky1

S.N.A.K. Performs at Smiling Buddha Bar on October 19, 2006.

Alright, so these blog entries are being written some time in 2008. If you’re actually expecting me to remember any more than “it was a great night” you’re pretty high off your rocker.

From my files though, this looks like it was the first S.N.A.K. show I went to, where I meant to see them. So that in itself was exciting. I think it started with some myspace messages back and forth, where one I wrote to the band as a whole (waiting for someone to write me back) saying “You need a new show, one where I will pay attention to you” and Dave! wrote back saying something along the lines of “Funny you should mention! We’re playing in October!”

Although… my first time being in S.N.A.K.’s presence… is a story in and of it’s own!

But for now, pictures!
