S.N.A.K. plays live at The Crowbar

Alright.  Officially this was my first ever S.N.A.K. show.  Even though… well… I didn’t go to see them.

Here’s the story.  I’m a sucker for boys in bands.  That was a short story wasn’t it?  Haha.  No seriously.  According to jemo, I’m not only their number one fan, I’m their entire fanclub.  Seeing as how I’m their fanclub, I figured I should do up an unofficial jemo website.  Which I did. (www.jemounofficial.com)

ANYWAYS!  jemo was playing at this show, and were releasing their EP “Oaks with Rushes” at this show, and you damn well better believe I was going to show up.

This website is supposed to be about S.N.A.K. right?  Right.  So my friend Brandon USED to be in S.N.A.K. (I’ll leave that story right there), which caused me to have access to copies of their first album “Sayin’ You’re Done” and me being the music dork that I am, was bound and determined to get it autographed by… whoever else could still autograph the album.

Hilariousness.  Nothing better than trying to figure out who in a crowded bar/club is from a band you’d never heard of and never met before.  Actually there is, the idea of “OMG you’re in S.N.A.K.? Will you sign something for me??”  And even better than the looks on their faces as they were all confused as all hell as to why someone they never met before wanted their autographs…

Yanking out a CD from maybe four or five years before that by all rights had been long forgotten to be autographed.  That took the proverbial cake.  Wee Alex was the one most determined to figure out where I got the album from. Dave! & Tynur just laughed & signed it for me, with Dave! realizing & announcing that since I showed up with jemo, I probably pilfered my copy from Brandon.

Seeing as how I didn’t know S.N.A.K. really, I didn’t really pay attention to their set.  I hung out with jemo at the door for the most part, but I did venture in every other song or so to take a listen, and they were a fun & rockin’ band.  I definitely didn’t oppose being there while they were playing, and they had a pretty good crowd of people all hyped up about their music.

End of the night, as jemo was starting up their first song and I’m trying to figure out how to get some good pictures from a crappy (by that point in time it was a four year old digital camera) camera, I’m getting tapped on the shoulder & handed the latest S.N.A.K. album by Mr. Wee One himself.  There was a rock show going on at the time.  How else do you thank someone whom you’ve just met?

I bowed. Haha.

Then I had to go to the studio to pick up all the guys from Strap-On Tools who were either rehearsing or recording at the time.  And made my long trek home.

And there we have it.  My first official exposure to S.N.A.K. which included two albums, three signatures and a whole lot of glowsticks being threaded through my ears.
